Notifications & Alerts

You can install your dashboard as an app on your phone and get alerts as notifications, even when the app is closed.

Installing it

There's no app store download. You add it straight from your browser.

On iPhone or iPad (Safari):

  1. Open your dashboard in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with the arrow).
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Tap Add.

On Android (Chrome):

  1. Open your dashboard in Chrome.
  2. Tap the ⋮ menu.
  3. Tap Install app or Add to Home screen.

You'll get an icon on your home screen that opens straight to your alerts, with no browser bars.

The first time you open it

The app asks for your access code once, then remembers it. You'll still enter your password each time you open it after a while — that's deliberate, since it's your account. Setting up a PIN in Dashboard Settings makes that much quicker on a phone.

Turning on notifications

  1. Open Dashboard Settings inside the app.
  2. Find the Notifications section.
  3. Turn on Alert notifications and allow the permission prompt when your phone asks.

Once that's done, alerts reach you with the app closed. Tapping a notification opens straight to your Alerts page.

Warning

On iPhone, notifications only work if you installed the app to your home screen first. Safari tabs can't receive them. If you turn notifications on in a Safari tab and nothing arrives, that's why — install it first, then turn them on inside the app.

The badge

When alerts arrive while you're not looking at the app, a number appears on the app icon. Opening the app clears it.

Controlling what wakes you

Notifications respect your per-source switches. A source with its bell turned off never reaches your phone — see Muting a Signal Source. That's enforced before the notification is sent, so turning a source's bell off genuinely stops it, rather than just hiding it after the fact.

Tip

If notifications stop arriving for no obvious reason, turn them off and on again in Dashboard Settings. That re-registers your device.
